Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

After talking to Garmin, it would appear that the "upgrade" path for the non-WAAS G1000 owners does not exist at this time. While GIA63W owners can buy new screens for a mere $28k (whenever Garmin provides the software), us GIA63 owners are pretty much hosed. The Gamrin rep said that ther...

Re: 29 DA20s, 7 DA42s, 5 DA 40s tragically for sale

Notwithstanding the abuse that these planes have obviously experienced, at the right price they can probably be given new paint, engines, and interiors, although they do all seem to have significant airframe times. I’m an attorney in Atlanta, so I am quite familiar with (what was) Falcon Aviation A...

Re: Flat tires

Having learned my lesson the hard way that my aircraft tires need to be refilled every 3-4 weeks, I have tried a tank of compressed air filled with an air compressor. It is heavy and the pressure is limited as is the pressure from my air compressor. The McClellan Field FBO is very helpful, and will ...

Re: uAvionix ADS-B out solution

I hope so, as this looks like an elegant solution. Two potential problems I see with the installation would be loss of the strobe on that side, and loss of the rear-facing white position light on that side as well. No reason why they couldn't come out with a Rev. B version with an integrated LED st...

Re: Help updating data on my G1000

Steven, If you get a message saying that the 2GB card does not have enough space, delete the folder named fc_tpc. This contains over 3000 files. The only file that must be retained on the card is the one written by your G1000 system when you first insert a formatted but blank card into the lower slo...

Re: G1000 error message fix

I had a number of erroneous error messages at boot up and randomly recurring during flight. Reloading the config file as described by Wall-e above fixed all of this, and took very little time. I also replaced the NAV file which had some errors from Garmin two months ago. I recall this was 1610 and I...

Re: Impressive step forward in electric power

Yes, and at Airventure, Pipestrel gave a talk on their hybrid system, which uses a Rotax 912s for the internal combution engine. Pipistrel is far ahead of anyone else in this area, and have designed the instrumentation, computer systems, and redundancy needed for this new venture. Note that they pro...

Re: Ground handling help needed

Using a winch moves the plane slowly enough to guide it accurately through a tight hangar door. As the tail is not designed for towing, we use the nose gear and then ride the tailcone like a horse, lifting the nose wheel and guiding the main wheels on the wheel guide marked on the pavement in front ...

Re: ADS-B Solution for G1000 DA-40

This may be the wrong thread as it has not been active, but there is a Feb9, 2016 announcement on the Diamond website regarding ADS-B compliance utilizing the Garmin GTX345. “We are very pleased to offer GARMIN’s new GTX-345 series NextGen Transponders with ADS-B IN / OUT as standard equipment on al...
