I have two installed in the luggage area, one left and one right. A passenger in the backseat can reach back and get their phone charger plugged in. One of the ports on the right is taken up by my Stratus power cord.

I have an additional one under my left knee. That's for me to run my iPad. And, actually, I replaced it recently with the model that has a USB-C port so that my wife can run her laptop if necessary.

I installed the Stratus dual USB port in the aft center console. Works well & easy to route ipad cables.

I flew in a friends Mooney with a few USB panel ports.
The ones close to the sides where you could easily run the cable around the glare shield or side pockets were the best.
The one close toward the radio stack kept getting tangled.

Has anyone installed the MD-93 USB power port and clock?

Has anyone installed one of these?

I'm considering the Mid Continent MD-93. It fits in a 2 1/4" spot on the panel. Has a very nice clock, timer, flight timer, UTC clock and dual 2.1 usb ports, its also TSO'd. The price is very attractive and I can kill two birds with one stone.

My concern is routing the cables from the MD-93 to the Ipad, stratux, etc. If the USB power port is in the panel I'll be running long wires under the glare shield or on top of the panel.

I don't want to cut holes in my panel or behind the seats for a USB port. Although, behind the seats next to the headset ports looks like the most logical place for a USB port.

Can someone comment on the pro's and cons of a panel mount USB port?
