Coopers Aircraft-- Diamond DA40 seat refurbishing
There is an ad on eBay that talks about seat refurbishing for our DA40. It's called Coopers Aircraft. His shop is located in the UK. Search his page on Face Book and you will see a lot of his work in aviation. His background is custom upholstery for high end in cars. He has taken the same approach for aircraft. I was wondering if anyone has heard of him. He has a photo of four seats he did for the DA40. Below is the link. I'm seriously thinking about refurbishing my seats. I have over 3000 hours of time on my 2003 Diamond Star. Maybe it's time

I have seen the adds in the past. I am not sure I like that waffle pattern but it looks like nice work. Does $6,400 plus shipping seem a bit high priced?

I agree. Worst yet, black seats in a Diamond aircraft? I bet those get really hot in direct sunlight.Lance Murray wrote: I am not sure I like that waffle pattern but it looks like nice work.

They have 34 different leather colors to choose from. How much does a regular Diamond seat cost? Anyone know?

The $6400 includes shipping worldwide. He sends shipping boxes with labels. All we have to do is take out our seats and box them into his boxes and drop them off at the shipper. The process seems seamless. I wouldn't do this until the winter months. The turnaround time is 3 weeks guaranteed. I'm simply in the homework phase now.

Re: Coopers Aircraft-- Diamond DA40 seat refurbishing
I had my fabric seats newly upholstered and carpet replaced a few years ago by a fine shop here in Georgia.
They do a lot of work with Cessnas and some for the airliners. I got plenty of flammability test certificates and FAA compliance for interior material paperwork which made me feel better. Something to look out for.
Here are some pictures before and after:
It was his first DA40 and he put a lot of hours into it. From literally hundreds of colors between leather and vinyl I chose very durable vinyl. I could pick the thickness of the memory foam. I think I opted for 2", a little more comfortable than the old seat.
They have all the cut-out patterns. Hawk Aviation at KCZL did the seat removal etc. and signed off on the work.
pm me for more info or if the links are removed since this thread is getting a little commercial but this shop deserves some attention!

Hey Carsten,
It looks very nice and durable. How much was it for all four seats?

Doug,
It was a little less than the beay offer for upholstery and carpet including removal and re-installation of the seats. But that was a few years back. I pm'd you more details.

Re: Coopers Aircraft-- Diamond DA40 seat refurbishing
I'm a little skittish sending so much money to another country, even if it is the UK. However, I've been in touch with Jason. So I asked for other owners to vouch for him. I have spoken to three separate referral sources by email. Jason is the real deal. That list includes the guy that did the Diamond DA40 seat refurbishing. He lives in the UK. He visits the USA 4 times per year. He said without hesitation, "Jason is a great craftsman and will take good care of your order". After 2 years, he is still thrilled with his work. "The seats look the same as when they were installed" That's enough for me. After I send in the deposit on Friday, He will send me swatches. I'll keep you all posted. As I get into the process, I will start a new thread outlining the ship out, the construction and work photos from Jason, and finally the install once I get them back. I was going to wait until winter, but I just realized, I have a Warrior to fly for the next month. So no flying in the summer will be missed

6400$ with shipping world wide seems pricy. I have paid 2700$ some time ago for a leather/alcantara-upholstery. The job was done by a company in Germany.
