Annual Cost Average
Just curious what the AVerage price is for an annual inspection, assuming a relatively clean airplane with no major issues and with no owner assistance.

Re: Annual Cost Average
We just had and annual performed our 2011 XLS with 230 hours on it. The Labor rate was $105 per hour, the fixed price quote ahead of time was $4,116 and the final bill including two squawk items was $6,593. This included all required PowerFlow and G1000 inspections and maintenance required by the STC. The plane is based in White Plains and the work was done in Bridgeport CT.
Previous year we performed an annual on a 2007 XL for around $2,900 including new battery at a different shop.

Re: Annual Cost Average
I get my annual done at E98 and my A&P lets me help with the annual. I take everything apart for inspection and put it all back together. Powerflow is done every year. Brake linings had to be done this year and I helped. With oil and filter and no other usual items, the total cost this year was $497 not including the brake pads that I purchased for $112. 2007 XL with about 500 hours.

Re: Annual Cost Average
My experience is very close to the other Rick's - I help by doing all the disassembly and reassembly, including the PowerFlow. With a couple of minor squawks, the final bill for my last annual was just north of $600, and it took 3 days to complete. Mine is a 2007 XL with 1500 hours.

Re: Annual Cost Average
I don't have any data on this. Like both Ricks, I handle disassembly & reassembly, (including the Powerflo service). This is all straightforward, but time consuming, and accounts for a huge fraction of the labor for an otherwise uneventful annual. My recent annual was $700, plus $636 to inspect and repair the magnetos by an outside shop.41000 wrote:with no owner assistance.
Without owner-assist, plan on at least an additional 16-20 hrs of labor at your local shop rate.

Re: Annual Cost Average
The first annual I had performed on my '06 DA40 was around $6500. There were A LOT of little things that required fixing. The prior owner had performed only the "minimum" maintenance required, so there were a lot of little items that required attention to bring the plane up to my standards of maintenance comfort. One of the biggest items was a spinning crankcase seal, thankfully the shop was able to glue in a new one and it is holding. It also needed 8 new spark plugs, new tires (prior owner had recently put on a "used" tire with minimal treads ), new brake pads, mags had never been overhauled (about 950 hours on engine), the glue holding on the right rear window required replacing, etc.
My latest annual was around $2500. Only major repair item was the re-sealing of the firewall against the fuselage. (I started to notice the white powder coming out of the heat vents.)
I use BP Air at VAY (South Jersey Regional). More expensive than other shops, but they do great work, and fully stand behind it.

Re: Annual Cost Average
2009 XLS with 307hrs on the Hobbs cost $2080 for the annual. Central New York. This was the first time this shop had done a DA40, so I think it cost a little more since it took them a little longer.

Re: Annual Cost Average
$1,800 to $2,200, that's what I have been averaging since 2008 excluding exceptions.
