Re: MT Prop Overhaul
Thanks Doug. Since day 1, I see a very thin grease line that runs only a few inches out the blades. No spray or anything on the canopy as others have mentioned. My IA says the thin line is "normal" on some props but I never see it on the Hartzell on my Dakota. You would think that sooner or later, that thin line will exhaust the grease.

Read my prior posts on this subject and make your own decision. In short: Pay 'em now or pay 'em later. Once the prop exhibits problems, you may not be looking at a simple overhaul anymore.

Re: MT Prop Overhaul
Prop was delivered today after OH. Total cost was $4900 including the trip to Germany for the steel inserts. The technician said that a few of the spacers (which separate the ball bearings) were broken, and there was a small amount of pitting in the bearing race.
The prop looks cosmetically perfect, way better than it did when it was new on the airplane. They must have a talented painter.
Now, to get it reinstalled...

Well, its back on. Annual is completed, new mags installed, new ignition harness, and the prop is back on. Now all I have to do is fly it!

Looks nice. The paint job is beautiful. Maybe we should suggest to MT that they find a good graphic designer to redo the nasty little green things. I hate them on my prop

I guess they could accidently peel off in the slipstream...Antoine wrote:Looks nice. The paint job is beautiful. Maybe we should suggest to MT that they find a good graphic designer to redo the nasty little green things. I hate them on my prop

Re: MT Prop Overhaul
Are these stickers required? I'd love to remove them on my prop. There all chipped up and look bad anyway.

Re: MT Prop Overhaul
Not likely required. We had our prop repaired by American Propeller and they replaced the original MT stickers with their own, with no trace of MT appearing anywhere on the blades. And all they did was repair one blade.Gasser wrote:Are these stickers required? I'd love to remove them on my prop. There all chipped up and look bad anyway.

Re: MT Prop Overhaul
The shop charged me $3.36 each for the triangle shaped MT stickers. Sort of like paying for the honor of advertising their (MT's) product...
