Video - Spin testing in the Panthera
Interesting and impressive video of the Pipistrel Panthera in a ten turn spin with four people on board. I think the comment at the end may be a jibe at Cirrus.

Nice. Does anyone know of a similar video with a DA40? If so, do you have a link?

DA40 spin testing - not as sexy, and not with a crew of passengers.

Oh, I just meant the video editing.
I do wish we were spin certified. I miss doing those in the '20 I trained in.

Hats off to Pipistrel. Now somebody explain to me why our DA40 needs this ridiculously oversize tail ?

I suspect that the large tail is a key reason for the DA40's stellar stall/spin record.
Did you notice how easy it was to get the Panthera *into* the spin (vs. the DA40 kicking-and-screaming in the NG spin videos)? The quick spin recovery - and moderate rotation speed even after 10 turns - of the Panthera is quite impressive, but useless on base-to-final, which AFAIK is where most spin fatalities occur.

Diamond used a very sophisticated "Gopro" to shoot this video: a DA42 MPP, I guess. Very impressive.LTek1 wrote:Oh, I just meant the video editing.

Hi Stephen
Thanks for the link...great video.
Did you notice that the PFD and MFD did not loose their inputs. I wonder whether you recover using the PFD if in a spin in IMC.
