Imagine if you had ~100k HP - and a GoPro :D

Post by Chris B »

I ran across this 5 minute video today and thought others might enjoy it. This shows highlights of the USS George Washington's F/A-18 flight crew on a recent cruise out of Japan. Don't miss the canyon flying starting at 3:17. No CGI in this one!

FYI, the music is "Daybreak" by Overwerk.

What a great video! Makes me glad I'm not flying on of those as I can get sick just looking at those turns in the canyon.

Yes, very nice video indeed thank you Chris. I too envy the people who do not get sick in high G maneuvers...

If you are the one who pulls/pushes the stick, chances are you won't get sick. It's when you are the poor passenger.. Much like motion sickness in a car. I learned the hard way in an Extra 300 recently. My owner friend really likes to have a record of his passengers and has a go-pro mounted in their faces. It recorded most of the colors of the rainbow in my case. And green stuck for a few hours after the flight according to my wife.
Really effective of you want to be on a diet, not really hungry rest of the day..

Aart,
I used to believe that too, until I had to do the maneurvers for my commercial certificate. Eights on pylons always got me sick (if there was any wind). When I took my exma with the FAA examiner, I told her that we were going to do that maneuver at the very end and she should be prepared to help with landing the plane if I got too sick. Thank goodness the wind wasn't too bad that day and I made my way through all the banks and altitude changes required!

Lol Cary I think I also got sick on my first eight on pylons attempt.
But then somehow it became OK and now I actually quite enjoy doing them. They are good practice for everything, including keeping your face a color other than green in bumpy air. Very funny post Aart BTW.
